This is a another fun one for our history buffs! We have here a remarkable piece from the Matawan Lighter Company, based in New York City, New York.

Operating between 1944 and 1955, the Matawan Lighter Company crafted lighters that became a staple for soldiers in Europe, sailors transporting and protecting ground forces, and marines hitting the beaches of Iwo Jima. These brave individuals likely carried Matawan lighters in their pockets as they went into battle. These lighters are pieces of history from ww2, and are incredible functional primary sources from that time period.

This particular model hails from 1946, a beautiful relic from a pivotal time in both international settings and here at home.
